SkyPatriot Touches Down in Japan with New Reseller, Carciel Inc

  • Rinicom has appointed Carciel Inc as their Japanese-based reseller for their world-renowned optical drone detection system, SkyPatriot.
  • Carciel Inc consults and supplies major government bodies in Japan including the National Police Agency, Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
  • CEO & President of Carciel, Kohei Ando said “FINALLY, we have found a standalone optical drone detection from UK-based firm Rinicom, specialists in AI-based technologies.”

Carciel Inc, the Japanese aerospace and defence company has chosen Rinicom’s SkyPatriot AI-based optical drone detection solution to sit within their current offering of drone detection technologies.

Based in Lancaster, UK, Rinicom specialises in providing state-of-the-art communication and detection systems for law enforcement agencies and critical civilian infrastructure protection facilities. The SkyPatriot equipment is used to detect and then classify rogue UAVs visually.

Carciel Inc has been an exclusive reseller of the RF-based Aatros drone detection system, made by German firm Aaronia for some time. However, powerful optical detection and classification was the missing link. Carciel reached out to Rinicom in early 2020 to explore the options of visual detection of drones and were blown away with the output and performance of the SkyPatriot system – the same system which has been adopted by L3, Telespazio and Operational Solutions as their primary EO system.

Dr Kohei Ando, CEO & President of Carciel Inc said “FINALLY, we have found a standalone optical drone detection system. Our business, Carciel Inc consults directly with the Japanese MoD, National Police Agency and major airports to help with the fight against rogue drones. Drone threats in Japan have been on the rise since 2016 when a drone carrying a chemical payload was found on the Prime Ministers residence rooftop. Since then, drone detection has been on the agenda for many of our major clients. The SkyPatriot lineup of products is modular, user friendly and affordable compared with most other detection sensors. The system also has state-of-the-art AI built-in and can work with commercially available CCTV/PTZ cameras. We are so happy to have found Rinicom’s SkyPatriot solution and we aim to use it not just as a standalone offering, but also as an integrated system with other detection sensors we supply.”

Sam Lowe, Sales & BDM at Rinicom Limited said “It’s fantastic to bring Carciel Inc onboard as our new Japanese-based reseller. It not only opens up opportunities and new markets to Rinicom, but I feel SkyPatriot will bring even more credibility to the Carciel brand as it has to many of our other resellers across the globe who have adopted SkyPatriot in their drone detection product lineup. The whole team at Rinicom are looking forward to supporting Carciel with their promotion of SkyPatriot and seeing the product flourish in the Asian market.”
